“The Obama Administration should enforce immigration laws, not look for ways to ignore them. The Obama administration should not pick and choose which laws to enforce. Administration officials should remember the oath of office they took to uphold the constitution and the laws of the lands” --- House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith, R-Texas
Hello all,
I was all set to write to you all about the budget mess and the less than thrilling Republican candidates to choose from. Mike’s last newsletter touched on some of this and I was going to continue the theme. I then saw a headline in the newspaper, DHS Alters Deportation Program. “Oh hell no!” I said. Folks that newsletter will have to wait until some other time. You know what? It seems that the arrogance of this administration is becoming more prevalent. I don’t know what the deal is with the President. He is not a stupid man yet he continues to thumb his nose at the will of the majority of the people. Whether it’s with bailouts, ObamaCare, the budget or in this case illegal immigration. I’ll tell you what; we will have 4 more years of this if no strong Republican candidate comes forward.
Anyway, last week the Obama administration said it would allow many illegal immigrants facing deportation the chance to stay in this country and apply for a work permit. “This will mean a case-by-case review of approximately 300,000 illegal immigrants facing possible deportation in Federal immigration courts”. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said in announcing the policy change. She goes on to say this will free up more resources to focus on the worst of the worst criminals. Now I ask you, who the Sam Hill do you think is going to foot the bill for 300,000 case reviews? Simple answer, us. Can you imagine the cost and yes, use of resources to conduct 300,000 case reviews in Federal immigration courts? This would be in addition to the cases that are still pending. 300,000 cases that have already been heard and deportation orders issued. This policy surly circumvents Congress. The administration has created a working group that appears to have the specific purpose of overruling, on a case-by-case basis, immigration courts final order of removal, or preventing that court from even issuing such an order. Can you say backdoor amnesty!
Rep Michael McCaul, R-Texas, said the Obama administration was implementing reforms “against the will of congress and the majority of American people we represent.” “It’s just the latest attempt by this president to bypass the intended legislative process when he does not get his way.” “The fact that we have a backlog and prioritize deportation is nothing new. This policy goes a step further granting illegal immigrants a fast-track to gaining a work permit where they will now unfairly compete with more than 9% of Americans who are still looking for jobs.”
I don’t know people. Mike mentioned in his last newsletter about how our country is in trouble. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that illegal immigration is the only reason our country is in a downward spiral, however it is a contributing factor. Also, in fairness I’m not putting the illegal immigration problem solely on the Obama administration. President Bush also had a failed policy on illegal immigration. This issue has been talked about but largely ignored for the last several Presidents. The current Republican Presidential candidates have also done a rug dance around the illegal immigration issue. I wanted to point that out because Mike and I began this group not on an anti Obama platform. Any politician who doesn’t represent the people, who put them in office, is fair game. Now, I would think everyone in America would feel this way but I revert back to the downward spiral we are in. I mean, how sad is it when we have 30 U.S servicemen killed in Afghanistan by being shot down in a helicopter. Front page news for what, one day. Yet British pop singer Amy Winehouse dies of an apparent drug overdose and we are still hearing about that, something’s got to give. I am not against immigration; this is what helped build this country. Illegal immigration, however, is a different subject that needs to be dealt with. I just feel like it’s wrong to reward illegal acts at the expense of tax paying, legal citizens. It’s just wrong to give an entitlement to a group of illegal people, for the sole purpose of politics. The bottom line for all of us should be that our country comes first.
All right people, I’m done. Here’s my question for you. How do you feel about the illegal immigration issue in this country? Am I way off base here? Also, what do you think needs to happen to correct this country’s downward spiral? Join us on our website: thepoeopleofliberty.com for valuable information or to just join in on the blogs. Wanted: A Real Leader
“Experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms of government those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny.” ~ Thomas Jefferson
Hey Folks,
Well the Iowa Republican debate is over and I don't know about you but I am seriously unimpressed. We are not going to endorse any one candidate; you are smart enough to make up your own mind. I like a lot of the candidates but I do not feel that any of them are what we truly need at this moment in time. Romney and Cain are great businessmen and could most likely turn our economy around, a very good thing, but not the only thing. Michelle Bachman, Tim Pawlenty, and Rick Santorum are all very good at talking the Constitutional Conservative line, but on the financial side, hmm. Newt Gingrich, well, talks tough but is he still part of the Republican establishment? Ron Paul, Ron Paul, Ron Paul, a very constitutional libertarian, very wise in all things constitutional, however he reminds me of the late comedian Don Knotts in both demeanor and looks, not very presidential (before you send me angry letters, it is just my opinion). Jon Huntsman was unimpressive but would probably do well with foreign affairs. Rick Perry was absent from the debate but I have some issues with his views on Global Warming and his past relations with liberals (Al Gore for one). Folks, these are not the type of people we are going to need in the coming years, but they are a whole lot better than what we have currently.
I believe in the years to come we need more of a Winston Churchill, Ronald Reagan, or someone more principled and stronger than they. People, the World is on fire. Riots plague more countries around the World than at any time in history. Economies are collapsing everywhere, the liberal indoctrination has poisoned so many that the minds of the "open minded" are now sealed shut. So many now believe that they are owed that which they have not worked for, and the President who was suppose to be the "Great Uniter" has indeed become the greatest divider.
London's on fire, black youth in Wisconsin attacking white fairgoers, flash mobs looting stores in Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Chicago, Cleveland, Washington D.C., and Milwaukee, Egypt is still reeling from the "Arab Spring", Syria is still killing it's citizenry, Muammar Qaddafi is still in power in Libya, Yemen is still having problems, Iran is waiting for us to pull out of Iraq so it has a clear road to Israel, as well as continuing its nuclear program. Needless to say the World is extremely volatile and on the verge of collapse. I believe the reason for this (other than our President Obama saying this was a "moment of opportunity" and that he would pledge billions of dollars to it) is that the Free World is without a leader. The President of the United States has been considered the leader of the Free World for decades, until now. If one looks back in history U.S. Presidents have been tested by the enemies of the Free World to see how they would react to threats, to find weaknesses. We have seen it in Korea, Cuba, Viet Nam, Iran, Iraq, and Afghanistan. President Truman was tested by China in Korea and he was found weak but committed. President Kennedy was tested by Russia first during the Cuban Missile Crises and they were turned back. The Chinese then tested President Kennedy in Viet Nam and then Presidents Johnson and Nixon. Once again we were considered weak to the point that President Nixon gave the Chinese a lot of our gold (I wonder what that was about, really). In the late '70s Iran decided to test President Jimmy Carter and most of us know how that turned out (very weak). The Russians tried testing President Ronald Reagan and lost, there were several other tests for Reagan some went well others did not, but overall America was viewed as very strong. George H.W. Bush was tested by Saddam Hussein of Iraq and one of the quickest military victories in history took place, America was still considered a Super Power. President Clinton was tested off and on by Muslim extremists in Somalia, Rwanda, Darfur, and Afghanistan (Taliban took over). He was also tested by Saddam Hussein, and took the side of the Muslims in Bosnia. In the end America was seen as confused, weak, and a "Paper Tiger". George W. Bush was tested by those who thought we were a "Paper Tiger" and we were considered strong, for a moment, it was at this point that the enemy within began to test our own. Our current President was swept into power by those who were working against our efforts to remain strong. President Obama has kept some of the policies of the previous administration (including the ones they fried bush over) but he has withdrawn the U.S. from being "The Leader of the Free World". He went around and apologized for our existence and for fighting for what we believed in. Now we are not considered strong, nor are we considered a leader, we aren't even considered weak, we are considered absent, or at worst, a joke. What we need is a President who can fix this; did you see one in the debate?
When you listen to this Administration and see the actions of it, you can see how the Liberal / Socialist indoctrination of our youth over the last 4 plus decades has taken root and indeed blossomed. What I have always found interesting about these "Zombies" is how closed they are to other opinions other than their own, yet call us closed minded. You can tell what their intentions are by listening to what they are accusing others of, i.e. "the Tea Party is trying to destroy the Country", "the Tea Party is holding the U.S. hostage", "those Tea Partiers are all insane". We’re insane, us? The definition of insanity is trying the same thing over and over again expecting a different result, in other words trying to save the country with stimulus, after stimulus without any results is insane! Yet, the indoctrinated continue to want more spending, more austerity measures. They have been taught that what is fair is everyone having the same things without everyone doing the same amount of work to achieve the success of those they envy. They were taught that the Government's job is to insure that they are as well off as those around them regardless of their efforts. The true American legacy was; work hard, keep your nose clean, and you can succeed, people flocked to this country to have this opportunity. Rugged Individualism was our tag line; it was what distinguished us from the rest of the World, but now. Which candidate do you think can reverse this trend?
"United we stand, divided we fall", famous quote that we use in times of trouble, that was before this "Great Uniter", Obama. Uniter = one who unites, so why would one who unites always have blame for someone else? Why would one who unites demonize any group of persons? If you demonize those who create jobs, what do you think happens to the jobs? If you demonize everyday people, who do you think is going to back you? I wonder a lot whether this President is as smart as everyone claimed or if he is as big an idiot as he appears. If he's an idiot, as I hope he is, the damage he is doing may be forgivable. If he is as smart as everyone claims, is the damage he is doing to this country tantamount to treason? Does he want the division so we do fall? Does he want the economic power of the World destroyed so it can be remade into a sick, twisted, Socialist Utopia? Haven't these people seen what history has shown happens with powerful central governments? Have they not heard the warnings of our Founders about powerful governments, or is that the America Obama promised to "Fundamentally Change"?
People, we are in perilous times, we need a leader! Not just any leader, we are in desperate need of the strongest, most principled, most courageous leader who believes in the Constitution and limited government. I hope we find this person soon. Perhaps one will appear out of the current field of candidates or one will just appear out of the blue, but as I have said before, any of these candidates are better than what we have now.
When you are deciding who will get your vote in the primaries, please consider all things and where we need to go. Rodney and I will continue to try to bring you the information you will need to make an informed decision. Follow us on our blog and at www.thePeopleofLiberty.com.
